Shopping on a Budget

  1. Make a List Making a list is very helpful when you are planning on doing any form of shopping especially when you are doing a lot in a big area. When making your list you should think to yourself, Do I need this? How often will I wear this? Is this a versatile piece? I encourage you to change your list multiple times before you go out shopping.
  2. Plan Ahead Before you go out to the actual stores, do your research by checking out stores' websites and start to compare and think about prices. By knowing what you want ahead of time, not only will you save time but you will also save money.
  3. Cash Only To keep yourself on budget, only bring the cash amount that you are willing and have planned to spend.
  4. Use Your Resources You don't have to 'go to the extreme' to save money. Keep your eyes peeled for coupons or discount codes in the mail, magazines, or your local paper.
  5. Sales Shop the sales but make sure that you are not blind sided and end up buying more than you had planned and more than you had needed.
  6. Be Realistic When shopping, ask yourself, is this what I have been looking for or needing? does it fit into my lifestyle? will I wear it often enough to at least a few times a month?
  7. Store Time When trying something on that you really like but they don't have the style/color you want in your size, feel free to ask someone who works at the store if they could ship your size either to the store or your house.
