Fashion Trends of 2012

The fashion trends of 2012 took everyone out of their comfort zones, especially the transition from your classic blue jean to every color and print imaginable. There is no doubt that a majority of 2012's trends will be carried on into 2013.

Colored jeans were huge this year. Not only could you were bright colors in the summer and spring, you could also wear them as well in the fall and winter. Every single color of the rainbow was worn over the year.

Printed pants and denim made a comeback and now you see people wearing them everywhere. This year not only was the floral print trend in the summer and the spring but was transitioned into the fall and winter as well.

Denim jeans weren't the only popular trend this year, but also denim shirts. Not just any plain denim shirt but add some studs, lace , and different colors to have made it your own.

The peplum trend was probably this year's biggest trend. You probably saw this trend everywhere, in tops, skirts, and dresses.

Over sized sweaters were big this fall and winter season. Best trend  yet, wearing a big comfy sweater.......yes please!

Collars were this year's "it" accessory. Either to be worn as a necklace, or part of a shirt or dress. Different styles can make any outfit.

This year the cap-toe was applied to every style of shoe. Over the year we transitioned from the traditional cap-toed flats and heels and started to have cap-toed boots, especially on the moto boots.

Travel in Style

Holiday season is here and many people will be traveling now. I don't know about you but if I am sitting on a plane or in the car for many hours, I don't want to be sitting in jeans.

jcpenny
When sitting for long periods of time, I like to be comfy but also warm. Leggings are great because they have a lot of stretch to them, making them very comfortable to sit in.

aritzia, urban outfitters, H&M
Over-sized sweaters are great for traveling. They are super comfy and warm because they substitute for a large warm blanket. Also I suggest wearing a tank top under because some airports, if you are wearing a cardigan or your sweater is really baggy, they may ask for you to take it off when you walk through the scanner. You probably do not want to walk through the scanner with just a bra or have to wait for a long time to get someone to pat you down.

ugg, steve madden
When traveling I like to keep my feet warm and wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off. If you are traveling by plane, I especially suggest wearing boots because you should also wear socks. When you travel through security, it is best to have shoes to slip on and off, to make the process faster, and to also wear socks so you aren't going through security bare-footed, airports aren't always the cleanest.

OPI

OPI nail polish is amazing. Their colors are so opaque and so easy to apply as well as remove. A bonus about OPI is that there collections always come out with great new and fun colors.

One of my favorite colors from OPI is Malaga Wine. This color is a great red and a great color on the nails all year round, especially for the upcoming holidays.

Red Lips: A Winter Classic

It's now December! When I think of December I think of winter and red lips. I love red lips and I think that red lips are a must have, especially in the winter months. Red lips can get anyone in the holiday spirit.

Covergirl Lipstick in 'Hot'
Red lipstick has been a classic for decades. This is actually the lipstick that Taylor Swift uses to get her signature look. If you want a matte red lip look, this red lipstick is great for achieving this look.

YSL ROUGE PUR COUTURE
Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain in 9 Rouge Laque

If you don't like the feel of lipstick and want a more shiny look, this glossy stain by YSL is amazing! This product has a great pigment but feels very light on the lips.

Tarte LipSurgence™ Lip Luster Fever-Red
This 'chubby stick' has been a staple in my makeup bag for years. Tarte is a very buildable product and gives you a nice, almost berry red, with just a hint of shimmer.

  • My friends, who are my rock
  • A roof over my head when it is cold and wet outside

Let's Talk Europe.................

We all know that Europe is the center of the fashion empire (not just New York). There is Paris, London, and Milan. When traveling to France last year in the early spring, I noticed that the French girls like to be comfy and cozy but also very polished and put together.  Coming back from France my style changed and I was inspired by the fact that you can look so fashion forward but still very comfortable.

Tights are very poplar especially when the weather is in that cold phase in the beginning of spring. Experiment with different patterns and colors, not just your typical black.

middle: Nordstrom $20
right: JcPenny $8

Scarves make a big statement and will keep you very warm through out the cold seasons.

left: Nordstrom $22
right: Nordstrom $18
Vintage skirts, A-line, are very popular in Europe and look great over a fun pair of tights.

left: Modcloth $47.99
right: Modcloth $42.99
In Europe a majority of the girls have one pea coat in a neutral color that they can wear with almost every outfit, every day.

H&M $39.95
Having a cute pair of gloves that will keep your hands warm is always a must in Europe or in any places that are fairly chilly.

H&M $12.95
In Europe you do a lot of walking, so heels aren't exactly ideal. Shoes that are comfortable for walking for long distances, and that are very fashion forward are a cute pair of flats or oxfords.

left: Steve Madden $99 (on sale)
right:  $59.95
For attending school and walking around town in Europe is spacious neutral bag in key.

Update Your Makeup for Fall

Fall is all about incorporating the deeper and warmer colors into your makeup. Personally I love reds and browns in the fall.

LANCÔME - Smoky EyeLiner in Black Coffee

NYX Tri Eyeshadow (in the woods)

Rimmel London 050 Paradise

Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster in Fever-red

Today's Color

I am getting in the Halloween mood, so I decided to paint my nails with Fantasy Makers nail polish for Wet n Wild. I grabbed this at the drugstore since it looked very Halloween. This color is transparent, so I suggested putting this color over black nail polish to bring out the red and purple glitter in this polish.

Dainty Jewelry

This season we are making the transition out of big statement pieces and transitioning into small dainty jewelry pieces. Small and simple necklaces, rings, bracelets, and earrings in your typical colors of gold, rose gold, silver, and copper (bronze). Also this season monogram necklaces are making a big hit as well as the cross.

H&M: fall/winter coats and jackets

http://www.hm.com/us/
Earlier this afternoon, I decided it was time to visit my local H&M to check out their new collection for fall and winter featuring singer Lana Del Rey. While browsing I noticed that H&M had great coats and jackets for this season that are great quality as well as affordable.

$59.95
Your classic pea oat, but go for a color rather than black or your classic beige. Red is a great fall and winter color. Try pairing this coat with an all black outfit to make this coat become the statement piece.

$49.95
Trench coats are classic, especially in black. To make this coat your own, try switching out the black waist tie with a colorful belt or ribbon to match or contrast with your outfit underneath the coat. When picking out a trench coat, remember that this coat should hit about mid thigh. Too short or too long will make you look unproportional and the coat just wouldn't look right.

$29.95
I love this jacket for fall and winter. Even though tweed is on trend this can still be a key staple in your closet. This coat is so comfortable and just skims your body perfectly. This grey is so versatile and the zippers make the jacket a little less formal and easily go over top any outfit. Try playing with the zippers to how you like it.

Beauty Gurus

Beauty Gurus on YouTube is where I get almost of all my inspiration. They experiment with clothing, beauty products, and accessories so when you are thinking about purchasing a pricey product you know whether or not is it worth the splurge. Also they do great turorials for when you want to mix up your basic everyday makeup and hair.
